Entertainment Love: Fashion Star

Now I was a little skeptical of Fashion Star.  The judges are not anywhere near what I would consider fashion icons (Jessica Simpson?), the fashion shows have a very American Idol feel and the music is way too pop for a runway...but then I watched it.  Though I still didn't care a thing for what the "judges" say, the buyers from actual stores add a new and interesting element.  It's fascinating to hear why they buy certain things.  And of course I am was sucked in by the idea of being able to buy the products right away.  So for now Fashion Star has a new fan....well at least until Project Runway comes back on.

I still can't get my mind off these pants from Episode 2 and they have been sold out since the night they went on sale!

Music Love: Milo Greene

Milo Greene is a band from L.A. that opened for the Civil Wars in Durham at their December concert.  My friend, Michael(who has awesome taste in music), had already heard them and told us how great they were.  I have never seen so many people excited for an opening act they have never heard. My favorite song was "Don't You Give Up on Me".  They have a great blend of voices and I am excited to see what they do next.

Fashion Love: Leading Ladies

Michelle Obama and Kate Middleton know how to pick great dresses from great designers.  The glamour and sophistication they bring to their countries is tremendous.

Here are two of my favorite looks:

Beautiful Marchesa gown that the First Lady wore to a state dinner.

                 Lavender has never been wore better then Duchess Kate in her Alexander McQueen Gown.

I am as obsessed with watching for their new looks as I am with watching The West Wing and Downton Abbey. (Which I have decided perfectly emulate both their lives and I want a combination of the two to be mine!) Both shows are can't-live-withouts.

Color Love: Teal

This candle has a gorgeous look to it and inviting scent.  I also think the way my mom displayed it is elegant and fun!

One of my favorite book characters is Mo Willems' Pigeon. His books always bring a little humor to my kindergarten class (Though that is something we rarely lack.)  I had so much fun making these cake pops for the book fair!

Can't talk about teal without looking at a Van Gogh Painting.  This is one of my favorites because of the amazing sky.

Another awesome friend, Abbey, told me about Viggle.  You earn points for checking into shows you watch.  The points earn rewards that you actually want!

Rewards-Starbucks gift cards, iTunes gift cards, Banana Republic gift cards, Travelocity.com gift cards and more! (You can earn a Kindle Fire but that would take some real determination.)

A trick Abbey taught me: sign into shows when you are at home and them turn them off, you can get points for shows that you don't have time to sit through.

Side Note: An android app is in the works but has not been released yet.  

Now get to work! (I have now turned work into a term for watching TV and shopping-Yay!)

Music Love: New Norah

This song(click the link below), the new album cover and the combination of Norah Jones and her producer from her last album all make me eager to hear what she has in store for her third album. The arrangement of instruments at the beginning of Happy Pills is a great way to people interested.

Her new album will be released on May 1st.

Entertainment Love: Emily Blunt

Emily Blunt is certainly one of my favorite actresses of this age;  funny, beautiful, and British!

I am excited to read Time Magazine's "Style and Design: Spring 2012" issue almost solely because she is on the front.  Click here to read Time's interview with the lovely actress.

She hooked me with her sarcastic mean girl in The Devil Wears Prada and then I saw Young Victoria and knew I would be a fan for life.  I was very happy to read in the article posted above that she is in 3 upcoming movies!

Recently she wore this great dress from the Naeem Khan Fall 2012 Collection.  It's an amazing pick from the very recently debuted collection and she always seems to add a little fun to the red carpet. As you can see I think she is great and her taste in men is pretty awesome too...(Her husband is John Krasinski, enough said.)

Jesus Love-Prayer Guide

The prayer guide my church, Summit in Durham,created is amazing. Though it is being used by the church for  forty days before Easter I think I would use this to guide my prayers throughout the year. It connects wonderful scripture with a very specific prayer each day.  It is such a helpful resource to my prayers and have a focus throughout our church of what we are praying for.

Entertainment Love-Angry Birds:Space

Something my 95 year-old Grandma and I will both be excited to play! ( "The bird game", as she likes to call it, takes up a lot of her time...and "some" of mine.) The new game comes out March 22nd! I love how intense and heroic the image is; I expect to feel that way when I play it.

App Love-Pixable

Currently looking at Pixable pictures about SXSW. Pixable is both an app and a website that lets you look at pictures from a specific hashtag within Twitter. SXSW is a conference in Austin, Texas about technology, music, movies, business and more. This will be a week long addiction. It makes me feel like I am a part of the action. It's pretty much what motivated me to start this blog.  Very excited to be a part of it all.
