Summer is almost here and I've decided I can not spend all summer in dresses. (well....I could but I'm going to try and mix it up a bit!) So my search for shorts begins.

Art Love: Theo Jansen

Yesterday, my friend and colleague, Jeni Foote, showed this video to my kindergarten class.  Theo Jansen, a dutch artist, makes kinetic sculptures that move on their own.  He calls his creations the next wheel.  His animals are fascinating to watch and try to figure out. Get ready to be amazed!

Music Love: Givers

Great song that I have decided is the new Indie song for my kindergarten class. We basically just jump every time we hear the word up. Awesome song and it really wears them out. Past class songs:2011: Vampire Weekend-Holiday 2010: Phoenix-Lisztomania All the songs have one thing in common-they make you want to jump up and down which is every five year-old's version of dancing (and mine).

Durham Love: Spring Art Walk

One of my favorite times of the year happened this weekend-the Durham Art Walk! I love discovering new artists (and new things to buy!) And since I am an official Durhamite it is mandatory that I love all things local.

Music Love: Lollapalooza 2012 Lineup

The line-up for  Lollapalooza, the Chicago Music Festival, was released a few days ago! My sister and I get very excited about this day.  Even if I don't get a chance to go to the festival I love to look at the line-up. It gives me new artists to research and listen to that I haven't heard of before.

App Love: Band of the Day

Band of the Day is a great app that does exactly what it's name says. It introduces you to a new band each day!  It tells you a little about the band and lets you listen to some of their songs. The app is very user-friendly and is lots of fun to explore.

 I have found all types of bands that I like-techno, alternative, spanish and more.  Best part-It's Free!
